DICOM Headers

Beginning with XNAT 1.6, you are now able to view the DICOM headers for sessions in either the prearchive or archive.

Prearchive DICOM Headers

To view the DICOM Headers of sessions in the prearchive that you have access to, simply go to Upload -> Go to prearchive, then click on the DICOM Headers button and select a time period.

If you want a period of time other than those listed, you can select Other, and choose a different number of days.

If you select 15 days, you will then see the DICOM headers for all the sessions in the prearchive that you have access to which have been uploaded in the last 15 days.

You can then explore the DICOM headers.

Archive DICOM Headers

To view the DICOM Headers of archived sessions that you have access to, simply go to Tools -> Archive Headers -> {Time Period}.

If you select one month, you will then see a view of the DICOM headers for all the archived sessions that you have access to which have been created in the last month.

Exploring the DICOM Headers View

On the left part of the screen is a list of all the DICOM tags that are present in at least one of the sessions. It lists the numerical representation of the tag (e.g. (0008,0020)) as well as a description of that tag (e.g. Study Date). To the right is a table containing information for all the sessions in the archive (or prearchive) that you have access to. Each row represents a single session, and the column headers correspond with the rows on the left that have checks next to them. If there is a checked tag that you no longer want to have as a column in the table on the right, simply uncheck it. If there is a tag that you'd like to have included in the table on the right, simply check it. You can check and uncheck either by single-clicking on the checkbox, or double clicking on the row. If the change is not immediately visible, you may have to use the scrollbar at the bottom of the table to view the column you just added.
