Container Service 3.2.0 and Batch Launch Plugin 0.6.0 Released

Container Service 3.2.0 Released!

New: Support for Kubernetes!

In addition to Docker and Docker Swarm, with Container Service 3.2.0 you can now run your container jobs on a Kubernetes cluster. We expect that this will be a welcome addition for site admins that deploy to the cloud, as all the cloud providers have native solutions for building a Kubernetes cluster.

All the core Container Service operations are supported: launching containers, monitoring and reporting their states, mounting XNAT data files as container inputs, loading container outputs into XNAT as new objects, and reading container logs.

Other key improvements include:

  • Adding the ability to run containers as scheduled event handlers
  • Improved xsiType permission checking on container availability
  • Improved user permission checking to ensure that users who launch a container can perform all actions required by the container
  • Several bugfixes and logging improvements

Batch Launch Plugin 0.6.0 Released!

Additionally, the Batch Launch Plugin has released a companion update, including the following features:

  • Improved scalability support
  • Improved support for ROI Collections
  • Improved security of the build directory
  • Added support for the restrictable "Downloads" feature

Container Service 3.2.0 and Batch Launch 0.6.0 require XNAT 1.8.5 or later. See the updated Compatibility Matrix for full guidance on dependencies and feature parity.
