XNAT 1.9.1.2 Patch Release With Updates to Container Service and DicomEdit

XNAT 1.9.1.2 Release

XNAT 1.9.1.2 is a patch release consisting of a series of small but critical bugfixes and improvements. This release of XNAT comes with an updated point release of the DicomEdit library as well, bumping that to version 6.7.1.

This release contains overall improvements to the following:

  • DicomEdit performance on complex anonymization scripts

  • Improvements to archiving speed and prearchive handling of very large uploads

  • Improved search result rendering time

Note for Plugin Developers:

The performance fix on search listings for XNAT-8329 stems from an improvement in the display documents to remove unnecessary table joins for permissions checks on links. (Clicking the link is still governed by user permissions, but displaying the link is not.)

If you have a custom-developed datatype plugin and are on a system with tens of thousands of records for that datatype, you may notice a performance boost on searches by employing a similar fix to your custom display documents.

For full details, please see the XNAT 1.9.1.2 Release Notes.

Container Service 3.6.3 Release

Container Service 3.6.3 is a single-issue hotfix release that addresses an issue causing a slowdown in container finalization. This release does not introduce any new compatibility changes, and is supported in all versions of XNAT 1.9.0 and higher.

For full details, please see the Container Service Changelog.

Note for those Upgrading from XNAT 1.8.x:

Updating to XNAT 1.9.x from XNAT 1.8.x is largely the same process as before. However, due to the number of changes affecting plugins, we strongly urge you to follow all recommended safeguards, including backing up your data and performing the update in a test system with thorough QA before deploying to production.

You can find our updated documentation on upgrading XNAT here: How To Upgrade XNAT.

You should also review our guidance for required plugin updates in the XNAT 1.9.0 Release Notes.
